Law enforcers investigate killing of 16 Ukrainian POWs by Russians

Russians killed Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Pokrovsk sector.

Ukrainian law enforcement officers are investigating another war crime committed by the Russian army - they shot 16 Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Pokrovsk sector. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

"On 1 October 2024, Telegram channels reported the alleged shooting of 16 Ukrainian servicemen by representatives of the Russian Armed Forces. According to media reports, the Russian occupation army committed another war crime near the villages of Mykolayivka and Sukhyy Yar in Pokrovsk district," the statement said.

The video shows how the captured UAF servicemen came out of the forest and lined up. Right after, Russians deliberately opened fire on them to kill them, and the wounded, who showed signs of life, were killed at close range with an automatic weapon.

This case is the largest known execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war on the front line. It is also evidence that the killing and torture of prisoners by the invaders is not an accident, but a deliberate policy of the Russian military and political leadership.

The published material is being verified, and investigative and search activities have been launched to establish all the circumstances of the crime.

Such actions constitute a cynical and gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and qualify as a serious international crime.
