Britain announces new sanctions against Russia for using chemical weapons against Ukrainian soldiers

The list includes, in particular, the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defence Troops of the Russian Ministry of Defence and their head Igor Kirillov.

The UK has announced sanctions against Russia for using chemical weapons against Ukraine.

According to the British government's website, Russian troops have openly admitted to using banned substances on the battlefield. The British side also has information about the use of chloropicrin, which was first used during World War I and is classified as a chemical weapon.

The sanctions list includes the Russian Ministry of Defence's Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defence Troops and their head Igor Kirillov, as well as the 27th Scientific Centre of the Russian Ministry of Defence and the 33rd Central Research and Testing Institute of the Russian Ministry of Defence, which are working on developing chemical weapons for use in the war against Ukraine.
