In Donetsk Region, the Russian army holds the initiative and forced Ukrainian units to gradually retreat.
This was reported by Colonel Ants Kiviselg, head of the Estonian Defence Forces Intelligence Centre, ERR reports.
The average number of attacks per day remained at the same level as in previous weeks, i.e. about 167 per day. Russians seized new territories in Donetsk Region.
'The armed forces of the Russian Federation are able to seize more territories in Donetsk Region, primarily in Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, Vuhledar and Velykonovosilkyy districts. Over the past week, the Russian Federation has occupied an additional 150 square kilometres of territory in the region,’ said Kiviselg.
In addition, there are signs that the armed forces of the Russian Federation are preparing assaults in Zaporizhzhya Region. It is likely that the well-known 76th Airborne Division, which is permanently stationed in Pskov, will take part in future attacks, with the aim of gaining new territory and further binding the Ukrainian armed forces in the region, the Estonian colonel added.
‘It is possible that the armed forces of the Russian Federation will achieve a local breakthrough in Pokrovsk, Kurakhiv or Vuhledar districts this year,’ Kiviselg said.
