On the night of 2 December, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine using 110 Shahed drones and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles from Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
According to the Air Force Command, as of 08:30, 52 Russian UAVs had been shot down in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Vinnytsya, Khmelnytskyy, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk Regions.
Additionally:
- 50 drones were likely neutralised by electronic warfare systems,
- Six left Ukraine’s controlled airspace, heading towards Russia and Belarus,
- One remained airborne as combat operations continued.
The air assault was countered by anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defence Forces.
One of the drones struck a high-rise building in Ternopil, resulting in injuries and one fatality.
