Mikhail Shatskiy, the deputy general designer and head of the software department at the Mars Design Bureau, was reportedly killed in Moscow. Shatskiy was involved in upgrading X-59 missiles to the X-69 level, which Russia uses in strikes against Ukraine.

Sources in Ukraine’s Defence Forces confirmed that the killing was a special operation carried out by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), RBC-Ukraine reports. Former Russian TV presenter Alexander Nevzorov also reported the incident on social media, describing Shatskiy as a “particularly harmful criminal” responsible for developing weapons used against Ukrainian civilians.

Shatskiy was instrumental in missile modernisation projects and introducing new UAV technologies. His work is believed to have contributed to the deaths of thousands of Ukrainians during Russia’s ongoing aggression.

Ukrainian authorities have not officially commented on the operation. Further details remain under investigation.
