President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited one of the divisions of the 27th Petro Kalnyshevskyy Jet Artillery Brigade, inspected the equipment, listened to a report and presented the soldiers with state awards, the Presidential Office reports.
This brigade was the first in Ukraine to receive HIMARS systems and is now providing artillery support for the defence of Zaporizhzhya and Donetsk Regions.
The Head of State heard a report from the commander of the Tavria Brigade, Hennadiy Shapovalov, on the operations carried out, including the use of long-range weapons, the specifics of the use of HIMARS systems and the dynamics of ammunition supply.
Zelenskyy congratulated the defenders on the Day of the Land Forces and the recent Day of Missile Forces and Artillery and awarded them the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytskyy, first- and third-class, and the Order of Courage, third-class.
The President also visited Ukraine's first underground advanced surgical team. This hospital has already saved more than 1,000 lives. Here, doctors receive wounded soldiers directly from the battlefield and provide them with medical care.
