The European Commission has approved financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 18.1 billion euros.

The loan will be disbursed in instalments over the course of 2025, with the first tranche to be received in early January.
This is the EU's contribution to the G7's initiative Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) Loans for Ukraine. This initiative provides collective assistance to our country in the amount of EUR 45 billion to respond to the needs of the budgetary sphere, defence and reconstruction of Ukraine.
The ERA initiative supports financial cooperation mechanisms that allow for extraordinary proceeds from the immobilised Russian assets.
This month, at a press conference with European Council President Antonio Costa, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that in January 2025, specific financial mechanisms should be put in place to help Ukraine with frozen Russian assets.The other day, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said that there was a need to move from freezing Russian assets to seizing them.
