President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the leaders of the European Union to put pressure on other parts of the Russian economy, in particular, to impose sanctions against Rosatom.
He said this in his speech at a meeting of the European Council, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
‘The sanctions against Russia are getting stronger, and this year we have made significant progress in the fight against its shadowy tanker fleet - we have to stop Putin from using it to finance the war and remove these old ships from European and international waters to prevent oil spills. We also have to put pressure on other parts of the Russian economy and energy exports, including sanctions against Rosatom, another instrument of Russian aggression,’ Zelenskyy said.
He stressed the need to continue to increase weapons production and expand Europe's industrial potential.
Zelenskyy thanked all partners who are already investing in Ukrainian defence production, including drones and artillery, as well as those who maintain strong defence budgets.
‘This will be crucial next year as well - arms deliveries, increased production, and tougher sanctions against Russia to push its leadership to diplomacy. Europe must remain strong,’ the President stressed.
