The Maritime and Unmanned Capability Coalition, led by the UK with partners Norway and Latvia, will begin delivering tens of thousands of drones to Ukraine in January, Deputy Defence Secretary Luke Pollard announced during a House of Commons session, according to Yevropeyska Pravda.
The UK is ramping up military support for Ukraine, allocating £7.5 million for drone procurement. The coalition has also secured an additional £16 million from Germany (£10 million), Canada (£3 million), and Luxembourg (£3 million), raising the total fund to £67 million.
In September, the coalition opened international tenders to Ukrainian drone manufacturers, allowing them to participate for the first time. Manufacturers were invited to propose advanced FPV and interceptor drones, with applications submitted through the UK Ministry of Defence.
Pollard emphasised that this initiative aims to accelerate arms supplies and increase the economic and operational costs of the war for Russia. Specific details about the drones or their deployment remain undisclosed.
