56 MPs have registered a constitutional motion to declare all competitions with ‘internationals’ unconstitutional.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada Roksolana Pidlasa.

According to her, the vast majority of signatories are from Yuliya Tymoshenko's party and the banned OPFL, but there are also representatives of other factions.

‘If such a decision is made by the Constitutional Court, the participation of international experts in the selection of judges, heads of NABU, SAPO, members of the High Council of Justice, the Accounting Chamber, customs and other bodies will be stopped,’ Pidlasa said.

The MP noted that independent competitions with the participation of international experts ‘strengthen the trust of partners in us and our reputation as a country, making it possible to attract more foreign funds.’

‘All these competitions were beacons of the IMF and their cancellation threatens to disrupt the programme with the IMF, and therefore directly affects the most vulnerable citizens - pensioners and those who receive assistance from the state budget. Not to mention the financing of healthcare and education,’ Pidlasa said.

LB.ua received the text of the motion from sources in the Verkhovna Rada. It states that Yuliya Tymoshenko and Serhiy Vlasenko are the authorised representatives of the subject of the right to constitutional petition by proxy.

The submission states that ‘only citizens of Ukraine, not foreigners, have the right to participate in the formation of state authorities, especially constitutional bodies, and to exercise control over the activities of such bodies under the Basic Law of Ukraine’.

The signatories are dissatisfied with the fact that representatives of international and foreign organisations are involved in the formation of the Constitutional Court, the High Council of Justice, the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, the High Anti-Corruption Court, the Accounting Chamber, the NABU, the NAPC, the SAP, and the State Bureau of Investigation.
