Norway allocates $232m for military support to Ukraine

Norway is providing a $232 million package of support for Ukraine to finance military equipment.

This is stated on the government's website, Ukrinform reports.

In particular, the military support package includes £92 million for equipment to strengthen the Ukrainian Navy - small boats, reconnaissance drones, unmanned surface ships, ammunition and mine action drones. This support is part of a coalition co-led by the UK and Norway.

In addition, £68 million is focused on air defence equipment, including radars, ground camouflage equipment and drone-based air defence systems, and £26 million is being provided to support and spare parts for critical systems previously delivered to Ukraine.

‘The war in Ukraine is ongoing and the need for military equipment remains critical. With this fund, we can help ensure that Ukraine receives the weapons and equipment it needs to fight the Russian invasion,’ said Norwegian Defence Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.

The funding is being provided through the International Fund for Ukraine.
