Ukraine will receive military aid from Canada worth 440 million Canadian dollars ($305.7 million).
This was announced at a meeting in the Ramstein format by Canadian Defence Minister Bill Blair, according to the ministry's website.
Of this amount, 200 million Canadian dollars will be allocated to the Czech initiative for the purchase and supply of large-calibre ammunition. An additional 50 million Canadian dollars will be allocated for the purchase of ammunition of various calibres from the Canadian industry.
Another 100 million Canadian dollars was earmarked for a Danish model to support the production of military drones by the Ukrainian defence industry.
As for other expenses:
- $30 million for winter gear, including sleeping bags, winter boots and thermal underwear (already delivered to Ukraine);
- $64 million for high-quality unmanned aerial cameras (also already delivered).
Assistance from Canada
- Since February 2022, Canada has allocated more than $19.5 billion in general assistance to Ukraine, including $4.5 billion in military aid. This includes multi-purpose drones, armoured combat support vehicles, anti-tank weapons, small arms, M777 howitzers and related ammunition.
- The country is also allocating up to $389 million to improve F-16 pilot training through UDCG's Air Force Capability Coalition.
- Since the start of Operation UNIFIER, the Canadian Forces have trained more than 43,000 Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel, with more than 10,000 trained in various locations across Europe.
