Ukraine needs Polish weapons, including Piorun man-portable air defence systems, Krab self-propelled artillery systems and MiG-29 fighters.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha in Warsaw, Ukrinform reports.
According to the minister, Ukraine's current priority is to receive air defence systems from its allies to protect cities from Russian attacks.
Sybiha also stressed the importance of the transfer of Polish MiG-29s to Ukraine, as it takes at least a year to train one pilot for an F-16, while Ukrainian pilots already have the necessary experience with MiG-29s.
The Foreign Minister added that the issue of fighter jets is constantly discussed during negotiations with Poland and expressed hope for a positive decision. ‘We are looking forward to a positive resolution of this case,’ Sybiha concluded.
- The Ukrainian foreign minister arrived in Poland on his way from Saudi Arabia, where he told his colleague Radoslaw Sikorski about the details of the meeting in Jeddah.
