General Staff confirms damage to Moscow oil refinery, explosions near Stalnoy Kon station in Russia

At night, the Defence Forces conducted a series of strikes on Russian strategic targets. 

On the night of 11 March, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces and the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defence Forces, struck a number of strategic targets in Russia

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In particular, the production facilities of the Moscow oil refinery, which is capable of processing 11 million tonnes of oil per year and provides 40-50% of Moscow's diesel and petrol needs, were hit.

There were also explosions near the Stalnoy Kon (Oryol Region of the Russian Federation) line-production dispatch station, which controls the technological processes of the Druzhba oil pipeline and is an important component in the process of oil supply to the terminal of the Ust-Luga seaport in the Leningrad Region.

A number of civilian infrastructure facilities have also been damaged as a result of Russian air defence actions. 

"The Defence Forces have detailed information about the strategic objects involved in supporting Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, comply with international humanitarian law and take measures to protect civilians as much as possible," the General Staff said. 

  • As reported, today Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said that "at least 58 Ukrainian drones" attacked the city and the region at night. According to the authorities, the UAVs were shot down by air defence systems in the Ramenskoye and Domodedovo districts. Four airports in the region were forced to suspend flights. 
  • Monitoring channels also reported hits to infrastructure facilities and published video evidence of large-scale fires.
