Syrskyy: Russia focusing on Pokrovsk direction to reach administrative border of Dnipropetrovsk Region

The Chief of Staff worked with brigades in this area.

Russia has significantly intensified hostilities, despite its statements of readiness for a ceasefire. The Russian military is concentrating its main efforts on the Pokrovsk direction, according to Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyy. He spent the day working with the brigades holding the defence in this area.

He explained that Russia is not deterred by the absence of operational or tactical prospects. It is persistently attempting to break through the defences of Ukrainian forces in the Pokrovsk direction and reach the administrative border of Dnipropetrovsk Region.

“To this end, every day the Russian command throws new units into battle, drives its soldiers to their deaths ‒ and reports on illusory successes and victories,” he said.

During his visit, Syrskyy listened in detail to the brigade commanders and made decisions on additional supplies of ammunition, drones, electronic warfare equipment and reserves.

“Particular emphasis is placed on unmanned aerial systems,” he added.

  • The Pokrovsk direction remains one of the primary areas of Russian attacks. The largest number of daily assaults takes place there. The Russian military has not halted its offensive in this area, despite its own statements regarding the Easter “ceasefire”.
