Head of State Tax Service: number of risky companies reduced by 12,000 in four months

A roadmap has been developed for these companies – a detailed explanation of the steps required to be removed from the risky list.

Four months ago, the number of companies classified as risky in Ukraine stood at 27,000, according to Ruslan Kravchenko, Head of the State Tax Service. Speaking during a public interview as part of LB and EFI Group’s New Country project, he noted that roadmaps had been developed for businesses deemed risky.

If a business underpaid taxes or failed to submit the required documentation, this was recorded in the roadmap – accompanied by clear instructions on how to rectify the issue. As a result, 12,000 businesses have been removed from the risky category within four months.

“I believe this is a result. But there is still a great deal of work ahead. This list includes companies with a turnover of up to UAH 1,000 over three years. It also includes companies that have underpaid taxes, those that evade taxes, or those involved in fraudulent schemes,” he said.

Regarding the blocking of tax invoices, the Head of the State Tax Service stated that in 2024 the rate stood at 0.76%. Nevertheless, one in seven entrepreneurs had their tax invoices blocked. He attributed this partly to a system that fails to recognise cause-and-effect relationships – and also to frequent changes in tax legislation.
