Drones have been used to destroy almost 90,000 Russian targets this month.
This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyy, following a monthly meeting on the use and development of unmanned systems with the participation of combat unit commanders.
“Systematic work on scaling up unmanned systems units is yielding real results. In May, more than 89,000 enemy targets were hit and destroyed using drones of various types,” said Syrskyy.
The meeting heard an intelligence report on the formation of unmanned systems troops in the Russian army and the arrival of new models of UAVs and ground robotic systems.
“The enemy is copying the experience of the Ukrainian Defence Forces and is actively scaling up its unmanned units. Therefore, we must maintain the pace of development and constantly build up our capabilities to stay one step ahead,” the Commander-in-Chief stressed.
According to him, the Ukrainian forces are increasing the number of drone crews, focusing on the destruction of Russian UAV operators and control points.
The meeting also discussed the development of ground-based unmanned systems. They perform logistical tasks, evacuate the wounded, conduct mine clearance and carry out combat functions. According to Syrskyy, the supply of such systems to the troops has increased significantly since 2024.
- The day before, it became known that the operators of the Unmanned Systems Forces – soldiers of the 413th Reid Battalion – detected and struck a station from the Russian army’s RB-301B Borisoglebsk-2 electronic warfare complex from a distance of approximately 70 km.
