President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stressed that Russia’s claims of an alleged attack on Vladimir Putin’s residence are false.

He said this in comments to journalists, Lb.ua reports.

“Strikes on Putin’s Valdai residence are a fake. Nobody struck it. Is this somehow linked to sanctions? Perhaps slightly. But in my view, it is more connected to the fact that there was a successful conversation and meeting with President Trump,” Zelenskyy said.

He emphasised that the talks with the US side produced positive outcomes.

“And Russia does not want any positive developments, which is why it makes such accusations. As for the fact that they previously struck our residential areas, the Cabinet of Ministers, Bankova Street… listen, they hit our people every single day,” Zelenskyy added.

What is known about the alleged “attack on Putin’s residence”

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed that on the night of 28–29 December, Ukraine had allegedly attempted to attack “Putin’s residence” using 91 drones, all of which were supposedly destroyed by Russian air defence systems.

The Kremlin added that following this incident, Russia would “review its negotiating position” but did not intend to withdraw from the so-called “peace process”.

In turn, President Zelenskyy noted that Russia’s statements are aimed at derailing all the achievements of the joint work between the Ukrainian and US delegations.
