The “Agency for Strategic Initiatives”, founded by Vladimir Putin, has announced the launch of a digital service, To Russia — in one click, aimed at attracting foreign specialists.
This was reported by the Centre for Countering Disinformation, which notes that the initiative reflects a labour shortage across all sectors in Russia.
The project is designed as a “one-stop shop”: applications from foreigners are to be submitted, their professional qualifications and adherence to so-called “traditional values” assessed, and, if approved, full relocation support promised.
“In reality, this project is doomed to fail, like previous similar programmes aimed at resettling foreigners. The much-publicised relocation from ‘unfriendly countries’ has attracted only a handful of marginal cases, who, after encountering the harsh realities of life in Russia, corruption and the risk of ending up in the Russian army, dream only of a ticket home,” the CPD said.
While Russia continues to experience a mass outflow of its own specialists, the Kremlin is unsuccessfully attempting to import “talent”, the Centre added.
