Centre for Countering Disinformation: Russia uses fakes to demoralise Ukrainians over strikes on gas stations

Russian propaganda has launched a fake, trying to stoke fear over strikes on Ukrainian gas stations.

This was reported by the Centre for Countering Disinformation.

Hostile sources are circulating a video allegedly showing a Ukrainian serviceman displaying a destroyed gas station in the Poltava Region.

In the recording, the “fighter” emotionally says that due to the enemy’s systematic attacks, “the situation is getting worse every day.”

“In fact, this video was generated by artificial intelligence, and the clip itself was first published by a TikTok account that masquerades as a ‘Ukrainian military channel’ and has previously posted similar AI fakes,” the CCD said.

The aim of this campaign is to artificially exaggerate in the media space the consequences of its strikes on Ukraine’s fuel infrastructure, create the illusion of a large-scale crisis, and demoralise society.
