U.S. President Donald Trump said he would clarify with Russian leader Vladimir Putin whether Russia had provided Iran with satellite data on U.S. military facilities.
He said this while speaking with journalists, Suspilne reports.
Donald Trump commented on a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Russia may have helped Iran prepare strikes on U.S. bases in the Persian Gulf region.
"We will find out soon. I will ask Putin about it," the U.S. president said.
At the same time, Trump expressed doubt that any possible transfer of information was carried out "at a high level" and suggested that even if such assistance occurred, it did not have a significant impact.
Trump also compared the situation to Russia’s supply of equipment to Venezuela, saying it had not proved highly effective. According to him, even if Moscow passed certain data to Tehran, it did not help Iran preserve its military capabilities.
- On 25 July, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that since the beginning of the month, Russia had been actively conducting satellite surveillance of the Persian Gulf countries and U.S. military facilities located in the region. The collected materials were later passed to Iran, and the imaging was carried out both before the strikes and afterward to assess their consequences.
