The newly established supervisory board of the National Museum of the Holodomor-Genocide held its first meeting, during which it elected its leadership, the Ministry of Culture reported.
Following an open vote, Viktor Yushchenko, former President of Ukraine (2005–2010), was elected chair of the supervisory board. Former Canadian ambassador to Ukraine Roman Waschuk was appointed deputy chair, and Olha Soroka, founder and head of the Holodomor Descendants Network, was elected secretary.
Culture Minister Tetyana Berezhna outlined the main tasks of the newly created body. They include completing construction of the second phase of the museum complex, creating a permanent exhibition, attracting international funding, and ensuring transparent and effective management of the museum.
