Russia launches 147 drones overnight; strikes reported at 15 locations

The Russians used various types of drones, including jet-powered ones.

Overnight on 7 August, starting at 18:00, Russia attacked Ukraine with 147 drones of the Shahed type (including jet-powered ones), as well as Gerbera, Italmas, and decoy drones. The launches came from Russia’s Oryol, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk directions and from occupied Crimea.

According to preliminary information from the Air Force, as of 8:30 defenders shot down or suppressed 114 drones in northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine. Impacts by 29 UAVs were recorded at 15 locations, and falling debris at four more.

“The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine,” the Air Force said.

The hostile attack is ongoing: several drones remain in Ukrainian airspace.
