Ukrainian company Drone Space Labs has presented the Zmiy unmanned aerial system on the Brave1 Market platform, designed to intercept enemy UAVs. Defender Media reports.
The company said the drone’s speed of 270 km/h allows it to intercept more than 90% of aerial threats. According to its assessment, most Russian reconnaissance UAVs, including the Orlan-10, Orlan-30, ZALA and Supercam, operate at speeds of 70–130 km/h, while strike drones and decoys have a cruising speed of around 110–150 km/h.
Depending on the modification, Zmiy can be equipped with an electro-optical system featuring a daylight or night-vision camera, according to Drone Space Labs. Its stated target recognition range is up to 1 km, while the platform can carry a payload of up to 0.8 kg. The daytime version costs UAH 35,000, while the night-vision configuration costs UAH 45,000.
The developers said Zmiy is a new development but has already been tested in real-world conditions and is ready for combat use. The engineering team has taken part in combat duty several times as part of mobile air defence fire teams and has patrolled designated sectors.
Drone Space Labs said it is currently developing an automatic terminal guidance system for target acquisition and engagement, which is expected to improve the interceptor’s effectiveness.
