At its 48th session in Busan, UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee adopted a decision of key importance for Ukraine — adding The Ancient City of Tauric Chersonese and its Chora to the List of World Heritage in Danger.

This was reported by the Ministry of Culture.

In addition to Chersonese, the Committee kept other Ukrainian sites in Kyiv, Lviv, and Odesa on the list as well. UNESCO also allocated $77,000 in assistance to develop a management plan for the Lviv — Ensemble of the Historic Centre site.

During the session, participants reviewed the state of conservation of heritage sites, new nominations, and mechanisms for protecting cultural properties during armed conflicts. In addition, the Committee denied observer status to two Russian organisations.
