Polish President Karol Nawrocki said in a speech marking the anniversary of taking office that supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression aligns with Warsaw’s strategic interests.
At the same time, he stressed that on historical issues Poland must stand firmly by its position, Yevropeyska Pravda reports.
According to Nawrocki, Warsaw’s interest is for Ukrainian troops to keep Russian forces as far away from Poland’s borders as possible. He emphasised that Poland will continue helping Ukraine destroy the invaders, as this is part of the country’s state strategy.
At the same time, the Polish president said Warsaw must demand that Kyiv respect Polish interests and again spoke out against Ukrainian national heroes.
Nawrocki stressed that his country will help ours, but “always with the words ‘Poland first, Poles first.’”
