Police in the Bavarian town of Treuchtlingen are examining a suspicious object discovered by a technician on the railway tracks at the entrance to the station.
Rail traffic in the area was completely suspended due to the potential explosion risk, while residents of several nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution, Spiegel reported.
Specialists have already taken an X-ray of the object and are continuing to analyse it, as the possibility that it contains explosives has not yet been ruled out. Police are urging people to stay away from the danger zone.
The incident disrupted several regional train services. They are terminating their journeys at previous stations, while replacement buses and taxis have been arranged for passengers. Long-distance trains are being diverted via Ingolstadt, while high-speed services between Munich and Nuremberg are operating as normal.
