In the early hours of 13 August, Ukraine’s Defence Forces struck the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refining complex in Bashkortostan.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.

A fire was reported at the facility. The complex is located approximately 1,300 km from Ukraine’s state border.

“Operations against key enemy targets continue. Ukraine’s Defence Forces are systematically reducing Russia’s ability to wage war and support the functioning of its military formations,” the General Staff said.

What is known about the target?

Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is one of Russia’s largest oil refining and petrochemical complexes. The facility can process up to 10 million tonnes of hydrocarbon feedstock per year.

The plant produces automotive petrol, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, polyethylene and other petroleum products and polymers. According to the General Staff, the complex is involved in supplying Russia’s occupation forces.
