Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, speaking during exercises of Russia’s Pacific Fleet, issued new threats against democratic countries and once again made it clear he does not intend to end the war.

Putin claimed that NATO is allegedly “seeping into the Pacific region,” which, he said, poses a threat to Russia. He also made statements that may indicate the Kremlin’s readiness for further escalation in relations with Japan.
Separately, the Russian dictator threatened European Union countries with the seizure of merchant vessels worldwide in response to the detention of ships linked to Russia’s “shadow fleet,” which Moscow uses to circumvent sanctions.
The CCD notes that such statements indicate the Kremlin’s intention to continue an aggressive policy, intimidate other states, and intensify escalation.
The Center stressed that the response to such a policy should be increased pressure on Russia, including through sanctions, to limit the Kremlin’s ability to continue the war.
