From January to August 2026, Ukrainian forces conducted an offensive operation in the Oleksandrivka sector, during which they liberated 745 square kilometres of territory and returned 26 settlements to Ukrainian control.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this.
According to him, the operation involved units of the Air Assault Forces and other components of the Defence Forces.
Zelenskyy said that as a result of the Ukrainian forces’ offensive, Russian losses amounted to at least 9,550 troops killed and more than 6,600 wounded. He also said that the operation replenished Ukraine’s prisoner-exchange pool.
The President said that Ukrainian forces had regained control of territories in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions.
The President discussed the results of the operation and further steps with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhaylo Drapatyy, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ihor Skybyuk and Commander of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleh Apostol.
“I am proud of the bravery of Ukrainian soldiers! Glory to Ukraine!” Zelenskyy wrote.
