Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets held talks with Russian ombudswoman Yana Lantratova.
The main outcome of the meeting was confirmation of the whereabouts of 79 Ukrainian service members who had previously been considered missing under special circumstances, the ombudsman said.
Lubinets and Lantratova discussed continuing prisoner exchanges. The Russian ombudswoman reported inspections of places where Ukrainian defenders are being held and decided to involve regional bodies for ongoing monitoring and visits to our prisoners of war.
The ombudsman added that he raised the issue of the swiftest possible release of injured prisoners of war and reminded her of a letter previously delivered from the families of the defenders from Olenivka, for which he is still awaiting a response. The ombudsmen also exchanged letters between prisoners and their relatives.
In addition, the meeting addressed humanitarian issues and the situation of civilian hostages. The Ukrainian side proposed establishing a monitoring mission involving foreign ombudsmen, which is currently being worked on, and also urged that prisoners be given the opportunity to call their families.
