In Samara, damage has been confirmed to a production workshop assembling engines for Soyuz-type launch vehicles, as well as to an aircraft maintenance workshop at Aviakor – Aviation Plant JSC.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.
This concerns the aftermath of a strike on the Progress Rocket and Space Center carried out on August 15.
After analyzing additional data, the military determined that as a result of the attack, a fire broke out on the company’s premises, covering an area of about 5,000 square meters.
The Progress Rocket and Space Center is one of the key enterprises in Russia’s rocket and space industry. It is involved in the production of Soyuz-family launch vehicles. The company’s products are used, among other things, to place spacecraft into orbit and to deploy Russian satellite constellations.
“Striking facilities of this level significantly reduces the military and technological capabilities of the Russian aggressor. Work on the enemy’s key military and defense-industrial targets continues,” the General Staff said.
- On August 15, Samara Region Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev confirmed a strike on one of the region’s industrial enterprises but did not name the specific facility that was attacked. Later, Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation, said it was Progress.
