Lyubov Shypovych, director and co-founder of the Dignitas charitable foundation, has taken up the post of deputy chair of the supervisory board of the Brave1 defence technology cluster. This was reported by the foundation.
“There will be even more connection between those who develop the hardware, those who buy it, and those on the front line who use that hardware to destroy the enemy. More experience from volunteers and the military within the state system,” the post says.
Who is Lyubov Shypovych
Lyubov Shypovych is a Ukrainian IT specialist, tech entrepreneur, volunteer and civic activist, and the founder and director of the Dignitas charitable foundation.
Shypovych earned a master’s degree in computer science at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. In 2008, she moved to the United States, where she worked in IT and software development.
She began volunteering during the Revolution of Dignity. While in the United States, Shypovych and like-minded people organised support for Euromaidan, including fundraising and purchasing essential equipment.
In 2014, Shypovych was among the founders of the US civic organisation Razom for Ukraine, which supported Ukraine. In 2015, she returned to Ukraine and later worked in the public sector. In 2017, she moved back to the United States, where she became vice-president of engineering at a start-up incubator. In October 2019, she returned to Ukraine and worked as an adviser to the prime minister on technology and innovation. In 2020, she founded the fintech company DataOcean.
After Russia’s full-scale invasion began in 2022, Shypovych focused on volunteering and supporting the Defence Forces. At the beginning of 2023, the team working on military and veterans’ projects at Razom for Ukraine spun off into a separate charitable foundation, Dignitas.
Dignitas specialises in technological and material support for Ukrainian service personnel, including providing drones, equipment and other essential supplies, as well as training for military and civilians and preparing UAV operators. The foundation’s areas of work also include professional training and rehabilitation for veterans, engaging international partners, and advocating for Ukraine’s interests abroad.
On 6 August, the supervisory board of the Brave1 defence technology cluster was headed by Oleksandr Bornyakov, who previously served as acting minister of digital transformation of Ukraine.
