Over four days, Russia launched almost 1,500 drones of all types at Ukraine, including around 800 jet-powered ones.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this.

He said he had heard military briefings on air defence.

"Right now the Russians’ tactic is to wear Ukraine down, to wear Ukrainians down — above all, our people. There are constant drone attacks — many jet-powered Shaheds. And our soldiers shoot down a significant share. There were almost 1,500 drones of all types in just these four days, including about 800 jet-powered ones," Zelenskyy stressed.

He noted that the most difficult task is shooting down jet-powered drones. At present, combat aircraft are doing most of the work to defend against them.

"We are working to ensure we have the necessary interceptors. Four companies have produced the relevant interceptor drones, and one company has the most successful equipment," Zelenskyy said.

"Right now, the Ministry of Defence and the military — everyone — must do their utmost to ensure we have as many capabilities as possible to shoot down every type of Russian drone. I want to thank those on Ukraine’s team who are truly working 24/7 to make that happen. In the autumn we need to deliver a response and raise the interception rate to well above 90%," the President added.
