On 8 September, a poetry evening will take place in Berlin featuring several poets, including the Ukrainian author Halyna Kruk. She will present the German translation of her collection A Crash Course in Molotov Cocktails.
The collection was published by edition.fotoTAPETA, translated by Claudia Date and Stefania Ptashnik, as stated on the publisher’s website. The description notes that for Halyna Kruk, poetry is ‘more than just writing verses. It has become for her the most important and indispensable way of being and living. In essence, she expresses everything she thinks and feels through poetry.”
The collection A Crash Course in Molotov Cocktails was published in spring 2023 in two languages, Ukrainian and English, by Arrowsmith Press. Most of the poems included in the collection were written after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The programme for the poetry evening in Berlin, in which Halyna Kruk will take part, will also feature performances by the Turkish-German poet Dinçer Güçter, the Czech author Petr Hruška and the American Ben Lerner.
