President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff. The main issue was accelerating all processes related to the production of high-speed interceptors to counter Russia’s jet-powered Shaheds.
He said this on Telegram.
“Ukraine has manufacturers capable of carrying out this task. Prototypes have been developed, and work is under way to bring this new weapon to the required level of effectiveness. I am grateful to all the developers and manufacturers – every company – for their work for the sake of our country and its people. It is important to complete this task within the set timeframe,” Zelenskyy stressed.
The Staff also held detailed discussions on the potential involvement of businesses in the production, supply and deployment of certain types of air defence systems.
“Specific deadlines and tasks have also been set in this area. The overall goal is for our defence industry and cooperation with partners to reach a level that will provide Ukraine with sufficient quality and quantity of high-speed interceptor drones and low-cost missiles to guarantee protection as Russia ramps up production of similar high-speed weapons,” the president said.
“Our intelligence agencies have clear information about the enemy’s plans, and our resources are being directed towards providing a clear response to the threat. We will also act asymmetrically. The relevant operations have been approved,” he added.
The Staff meeting was also commented on by presidential adviser Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov.
“Everyone among my friends and acquaintances in Kyiv asks me the same question: when will this nightmare of jet-powered Shaheds flying towards Kyiv end? My answer is: when we have enough jet-powered interceptors to build a multi-layered, echeloned defence capable of stopping jet-powered Shaheds from reaching the capital from all directions,” he wrote on Facebook, noting that at the Staff meeting, the president had identified this task as the highest priority.
