Special envoys of President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, will visit Ukraine and Russia this weekend.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in his evening address.

“It has already been clearly determined today that American representatives will be in Ukraine in the coming days and will be in Russia. The details are coming from the team of the President of the United States. We discussed today that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will visit Moscow and will visit Kyiv on Sunday,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The President noted that Ukraine is preparing for the visit. He said a meeting had been held with the diplomatic team working with the United States.

Zelensky also said that Ukraine would ensure the normal functioning of Russian airspace so that American negotiators could arrive in Moscow safely.

“We are looking after them specifically, not Russia. There will be no air strikes from our side, and Russia must, in a mirror response, ensure calm by refraining from its air strikes for the time needed to hold these talks and resolve the logistical issues connected with this American visit,” the President said.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine’s aim is to hold substantive talks with the United States.

“Our goal is a visit and talks with the American side that are as constructive and substantive as possible. We need to look for real options for steering this war towards an end,” he stressed.

“We will see what proposals Steve and Jared have, and what they are told in response in Moscow,” the President added.

  • Earlier, Axios reported that Witkoff and Kushner will visit Moscow and Kyiv this weekend for talks on ending the war. The day before, Witkoff and Kushner discussed the upcoming trip with Donald Trump at the White House.
