Because of Russian shelling, Ukraine’s state budget could miss out on around UAH 70bn in tax revenues. The figure may rise as Russia’s attacks continue.
Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi said this at the Yalta European Strategy (YES) forum, LB.ua reports.
The government has calculated the budget losses caused by Russian shelling. Two days ago it was around UAH 70bn, but the number could be higher because the attacks have not stopped.
“Two weeks ago we took stock — around UAH 70bn in tax revenues may not reach the state budget due to the shelling. That is as of two weeks, but the strikes continue every day,” Koretskyi said.
The prime minister stressed that despite the losses, Ukrainian businesses continue to operate: “But in fairness, businesses — for which I am sincerely grateful to everyone, small and medium-sized enterprises and big business alike — continue to work and recover, just as Ukrainians do.”
Koretskyi also thanked Ukrainians who go to work despite night-time attacks: “After night-time shelling, they get up, having had too little sleep, having spent time in shelters, and go to work, generating taxes, GDP and the economy. For that, boundless sincere thanks to everyone who has held on through the fifth year of the war.”
