Former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has not been seen at work since leaving on a five-day business trip to Paris that he assigned to himself. The trip ended on 18 September, and as of 2pm on the 21st he had not been seen at the Prosecutor General’s Office, the office’s spokesperson Mariana Haiovska told UP.
She explained that, despite being dismissed from the post of Prosecutor General, Ruslan Kravchenko remains a prosecutor at the Prosecutor General’s Office. The spokesperson said she had no information on whether Kravchenko has returned from abroad.
“The official end date of Ruslan Kravchenko’s business trip is 18 September. As of 14:00 on 21 September, he has not reported for work at the Prosecutor General’s Office,” she said.
Context
On the night of 14 September, Ruslan Kravchenko left the country in an official vehicle, citing a business trip to a Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe session in Paris. By morning, the Prosecutor General’s official pages had published a video statement about signing a notice of suspicion against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos and a “close associate” of SAPO head Oleksandr Klymenko.
That same day, the President signed a decree suspending Kravchenko from the post of Prosecutor General. The Verkhovna Rada voted to dismiss him on 15 September, and the President formalised the decision with a corresponding decree.
Before his official dismissal, Kravchenko managed to publish several more posts and videos accusing Semen Kryvonos. However, the Prosecutor General’s Office said there had been no notice of suspicion issued to the NABU director.
Kravchenko said he had sent it by post. The head of Ukrposhta said the Prosecutor General paid cash for the letter, even though there is an agreement between the postal operator and the Prosecutor General’s Office for cashless payments.
