Ukrainian UGV manufacturer Ratel Robotics is testing a remotely controlled 12.7 mm turret on its Ratel H platform. The company reported this on Facebook.
Engineers are testing the turret’s operational stability, the platform’s controllability and the effectiveness of the entire system under various conditions. The results of each testing stage are used to improve the solution and prepare it for real combat missions.
“The combination of the mobility of a ground robotic system and remotely controlled weaponry makes it possible to carry out combat missions without the direct involvement of servicemen in the most dangerous zone,” the company said.
Ratel H equipped with a 12.7 mm turret was first unveiled in September 2026 in Denmark at DALO Industry Days 2026, one of Scandinavia’s largest defence industry exhibitions.
According to the manufacturer, integrating a combat module expands the capabilities of Ratel H, allowing the platform to be used not only for logistics and evacuation missions but also for remotely engaging enemy targets with fire. This makes it possible to carry out dangerous tasks without servicemen being directly present in the affected area.
The Ratel H UGV modification, designed to evacuate wounded personnel from the battlefield, was developed by the company in 2024. The robot can carry around 400 kg, allowing it to transport several people at once.
According to the manufacturer, the robot’s design allows it to move across difficult terrain. It operates quietly, making it difficult for the enemy to detect. Ratel H is also equipped with night-vision cameras to carry out missions effectively in low-visibility conditions and at night.
The developers say the vehicle can perform various tasks. The robot can be fitted with electronic warfare equipment, a mobile observation post, a combat module or a mine-clearance system. The platform is equipped with satellite communications, allowing the operator to control it from a long distance.
Recently, US company Swarmer, Inc., which develops autonomous drone-control platforms, reached a definitive agreement to acquire Ukrainian UGV manufacturer Ratel Robotics.
According to the company’s statement, the deal could be worth up to $224 million, including payments scheduled under the agreement. Once the deal is completed, more than 300 Ratel Robotics employees are expected to join Swarmer. The combined company will therefore have around 500 employees.
