Moldova has recorded 39 cases of airspace violations by drones since the start of 2026. In recent times, the country has also seen an intensified wave of Russian propaganda.
This is reported by NewsMaker citing data from the Centre for Strategic Communications and Countering Disinformation.
It is noted that in 2022, Moldova recorded four cases of illegal drone flights in the country’s airspace.
In 2023 there were six such cases, in 2024 – ten, and in 2025 – 17. Since the start of 2026, 39 such incidents have already been recorded.
“The number of drone incidents in Moldova’s airspace has risen significantly in recent months, including cases that resulted in explosions. Each incident is accompanied by waves of propaganda that distract attention from the real aggressor,” the statement said.
The propaganda is aimed at intimidating the population and undermining efforts to strengthen the country’s defence capability.
It also refers to “instilling fear and influencing public opinion” in order to steer the country away from the European path. The propaganda is intended to heighten “dissatisfaction with the actions or inaction of the authorities”.
