Ukraine needs additional interceptor missiles for Patriot systems to counter Russian strikes. European leaders plan to raise the issue with US President Donald Trump, Bloomberg reports.
According to the outlet, European leaders plan to lobby for the transfer of additional Patriot missiles to Ukraine during meetings in New York, where events linked to the UN General Assembly are taking place this week.
European partners also plan to urge other countries, including the United Kingdom and Japan, to provide Ukraine with financial support.
In August, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine needs at least 300 Patriot interceptor missiles for the winter period. The President also spoke about the possibility of Ukraine purchasing part of US stockpiles.
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine is ready to buy the missiles it needs for Patriot systems, and that a decision on their supply requires political decisions by partners, above all the United States.
As Bloomberg notes, the United States’ response to a possible approach by European partners regarding additional missiles for Ukraine remains uncertain for now.
