The government has approved new rules for how medical facilities operate depending on the level of air-raid threat.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhii Koretskyi reported this.
At the yellow level of air-raid threat, medical facilities continue to operate as normal. Full access to shelters for staff, patients and visitors must be ensured.
At the red level of threat, patients and medical staff must move to shelters. At the same time, medical care whose interruption could endanger a person’s life and health must not be stopped.
This includes, in particular, surgical procedures, resuscitation measures and intensive care.
Patients who cannot be moved to a shelter quickly will continue to be treated in the safest available rooms.
In shelters and such rooms, it is also permitted to provide medical care, dispense medicines and accommodate patients.
Emergency medicine continues to operate regardless of the level of air-raid threat.
Patients with urgent conditions will be admitted at any time. Dispatch services will continue to take calls, and emergency medical teams will continue to travel to patients.
Special attention has been instructed to be paid to protecting premises whose operation is essential to ensuring uninterrupted medical care.
In particular, this concerns:
- operating theatres;
- intensive care and maternity wards;
- admissions departments;
- rooms with backup power sources;
- rooms with critically important medical equipment.
Particular attention must be paid to areas where patients are located who cannot be moved quickly during an air-raid threat.
