There is no ceasefire agreement on energy infrastructure between Ukraine and Russia, but it would make sense because the war benefits neither side, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio believes. In an interview with WABC radio, published by the State Department, he said the war is “clearly not in Ukraine’s interests and is terrible for Russia”.
President Donald Trump is ready to try to establish dialogue between Ukraine and Russia, the Secretary of State believes. And efforts to do so will continue.
“But, obviously, right now, today, we are not at that point. I hope that changes, and I think it eventually will. This war must end at some point, and the war in Ukraine will end through a deal reached in negotiations. That is how it will end, all right. It will not end with a crushing military victory for either side. It will end with a deal reached in negotiations,” he said.
The Secretary of State added that American negotiators will continue their efforts and look for opportunities to bring the end of the war closer.
