Kyivpastrans municipal enterprise has planned the purchase and installation of 14 primary (mobile) shelters. This was stated in a response provided by the Kyiv City State Administration to an enquiry from LB.ua about plans to procure mobile shelters.
According to the company’s response, these shelters will be placed on the premises of Kyivpastrans branches and units, as well as at public transport stops. The primary (mobile) shelters are intended for short-term stays; they will have an area of at least 30 sq m and be able to accommodate up to 50 people.
The company has already prepared the tender documentation for the procurement, but has not yet taken it to electronic bidding, Kyivpastrans said.
- LB.ua received this response after seeking clarification of a recent statement by Mayor Vitali Klitschko, who told journalists that Kyiv has already purchased shelters and that, within a month, the first 40–50 such structures are planned to be installed at public transport stops where there are no permanent shelters.
- A year ago, the Kyiv City Council had already allocated UAH 500 million to Kyiv’s districts for a programme to purchase mobile shelters, but the procurements were later cancelled and the money was redirected to other areas.
