The President of Ukraine asked his American counterpart Donald Trump to raise the issue of influencing Vladimir Putin in order to end the war. Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during an audio briefing with journalists.
So far, the American team has not informed Ukraine of the outcome of these talks. Zelenskyy expects to receive feedback.
“Of course, I raised this issue and personally asked President Trump to raise it. And to do everything possible so that China’s leader would influence Putin to bring the war to an end. I have not yet received feedback from the American team. I expect to get the result of this part of their conversation,” he said.
- Ukraine has repeatedly urged China to put pressure on Russia. Beijing continues to trade with the Russians, although it claims it does not support the war. Among the goods the Russians receive from China are dual-use items. Chinese engines are used in Russian jet-powered drones with which the enemy terrorises Ukrainian cities.
