North Korea is using the experience of Russia’s war against Ukraine to improve its own weaponry and is building up its military capabilities.
This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, Kyrylo Budanov, in an interview with Newsforce.
According to him, North Korea is not only supplying Russia with weapons and materials and sending its troops to take part in the war against Ukraine, but is also using the experience gained to develop its own armed forces.
“North Korea is learning from our war and arming itself. The world must see this link while there is still time,” Budanov said.
He noted that North Korea is upgrading its weaponry based on combat experience in Ukraine and is adopting new types of weapons, some of which are of Russian origin.
“In North Korea, they have already established mass production of single-use attack drones. And this in no way contributes to stability in the Korean region,” Budanov said.
The head of the President’s Office also said that North Korea’s rapid militarisation may indicate the country is preparing for possible hostilities in the region.
“When you see the North Korean regime militarising so rapidly, the question naturally arises: why? Above all, to be ready for active hostilities in its region,” he noted.
Budanov also mentioned a recent incident on the demarcation line between South and North Korea.
“The situation is escalating with each passing day. And it is only a matter of time before a trigger event occurs that will lead to uncontrollable consequences,” he added.
