Overnight and into the morning, the Russian army has not stopped attacking Ukraine. In particular, it struck critical infrastructure in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytskyi and Zaporizhzhia regions. People have been killed, including a foreign national. Dozens have been wounded.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote about this on Telegram.
“All night and into the morning, Russia has been attacking our regions. In Kharkiv, there was a brutal strike on a high-rise building; the second and fourth floors were partially destroyed. There is damage in Kyiv from drone attacks—residential buildings, communications, filling stations. They smashed an ordinary café and tried to set fire to a food market in the capital. In Odesa Region, they hit a vessel flying the Palau flag. In Zhytomyr Region, they damaged an ordinary ice-cream factory. There were strikes on residential buildings in Sumy, Rivne, Kharkiv and Odesa regions. They attacked critical infrastructure in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Khmelnytskyi and Zaporizhzhia regions. Emergency services are working wherever needed,” the head of state said.
As of the morning, dozens of people are known to have been wounded. The strike on Kharkiv alone injured 28 people, including nine children. There are fatalities. In Kyiv Region, two people were killed; one of them was a citizen of Azerbaijan.
“I thank everyone who is not staying silent about what is happening in Ukraine, and everyone who is preparing concrete support packages for our country. Clear decisions are needed. Air defence systems, energy support, assistance in covering budget deficits—these are what genuinely strengthen Ukraine today and help our people endure. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine,” Zelenskyy wrote.
- On the night of 28 September, starting from 18:00 yesterday, the Russian army launched 165 drones at Ukraine. Air defences neutralised 112 of them. There were hits and falling debris.
