Drones are currently hitting 85% of targets on the battlefield. The main campaign, including the use of drones, is taking place specifically at the tactical level, the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert (Madyar) Brovdi, said in an interview with The Telegraph.
These are the stretches of the front where the Russian military is trying to advance. 95% of the Unmanned Systems Forces’ effort is directed precisely at the tactical level of the front line, and only the remainder at deep strikes.
“Deep strikes are primarily aimed at bringing the war onto the territory of the occupying country. After all, Russia has fought all its previous wars in such a way that its civilian population did not feel any connection to the war,” Brovdi said.
This year, the situation has changed. Deep operations have effectively destroyed the notion of a safe rear area across the whole European part of Russia.
The objectives of such strikes are to affect the financing of the war, weapons production, and the enemy’s morale and psychological state. Madyar believes the psychological barrier has been successfully overcome.
“A country without a navy is stopping the enemy’s shadow fleet, which is the main source of money for the war,” he stressed.
The commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces believes that the faint prospect of talks on an energy ceasefire emerging this year is the achievement of Ukrainian pilots.
“We are genuinely capable today of carrying out extremely complex tasks. And when the question is about encouraging the enemy side into dialogue by such forceful means, our task is to provide a strong negotiating position for the politicians who are now working on a settlement and an end, even a partial one, to the fighting,” Robert Brovdi noted.
