Ukraine is exploring every possible way to deliver food to people in temporarily occupied territories, including using drones.
However, Russian troops shoot down drones carrying food and confiscate humanitarian aid intended for civilians, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said in a statement.
The foreign minister stressed that the situation in Oleshky shows the occupiers’ true attitude towards the civilian population. Despite the risks and shelling, Ukraine will continue to look for ways to support its citizens.
Sybiha noted that humanitarian deliveries should not take place under fire. He called on international organisations to intervene to ensure unhindered access to Oleshky, guarantee that people receive food and medicines, and create safe conditions for their evacuation.
- Kherson region head Oleksandr Prokudin reported that in occupied Oleshky, Russian troops are seizing humanitarian aid and detaining local residents who try to collect it. People are detained and brutally beaten.
- Since March, Ukrainian forces, together with a unit of the 11th National Guard of Ukraine Brigade and fighters from the 34th Separate Marine Brigade “Borysfen”, have been systematically delivering food across the Dnipro using drones.
- One of the largest such operations was carried out recently. However, Russian troops are trying to disrupt the delivery of aid. According to him, the occupiers shoot down drones carrying supplies and seize or resell food intended for children and older people.
